The Conversation Never Really Ended

The last reflection published here was in April 2020.

At the time, I had no idea how much life was about to unfold.

There were years filled with work, loss, caregiving, unexpected turns, and questions I couldn’t have imagined asking.

For a while, I stopped writing.

Or so I thought.

Looking back, I realize I never really stopped.

I simply changed where I was writing.

Some of it was written in hospital rooms.

Some in long drives home after difficult days.

Some while researching grief, caregiving, and what it means to accompany someone through life’s final chapters.

Some was written in laughter with my family.

Some in quiet conversations with myself.

Some never made it onto paper at all.

It lived in the thousands of ideas that filled notebooks, voice memos, and the corners of my imagination.

I used to think those unfinished ideas were evidence of everything I hadn’t accomplished.

Now I see them differently.

They were breadcrumbs.

They were quietly leading me back here.

Back to this table.

Back to the simple act of paying attention.

This space isn’t about having the answers.

It’s about making room for honest conversations.

About noticing beauty.

About asking better questions.

About remembering that every ending quietly prepares us for another beginning.

So today, I won’t try to summarize the years that passed.

I’ll simply pull out a chair.

Pour a cup of coffee.

And begin again.

I’m glad you’re here. Until next time… there’s always room at the table ❤️
